Falling in love, one of the staple experiences of the human existence, is a risky venture. You want to make sure that the relationships you enter and the person you attach yourself to are right for you. True lover tests help to determine this.

Infatuation is often confused with true love. This is a problem that people of all ages and social backgrounds face. Admittedly though, it is a dilemma that is usually associated with teenagers who have not yet learnt how to judge characters objectively and gauge their own emotions.

Many long term decisions are taken in haste when individuals are in the throes of young love or infatuation. These decisions have the potential to trigger long lasting negative effects especially if the relationship fails. While these instruments cannot, by themselves, prevent the heartache of failed relationships, they are able to send warning signals when relationships are starting off on weak footing.

These emotion gauges usually comprise questions. The questions are centered on behaviors and expressions of emotions. They are designed to elicit information about the feelings of the subjects for each other. The potential answers to the questions are valued numerically and the total value of the answers checked fall into one or more range or categories. These categories explain the state of the love or the relationship.

Magazines are famous for featuring these tests. These magazines are often found in the offices of business places such as doctors' offices or on airplanes. They are used by clients to pass the time as they wait to be addressed or travel from one destination to another. Most people who use them in this light tend to underestimate their validity.

The internet has many of these tests available for those who who wish to use them. The availability of online versions of the tools is predominantly owing to the prevalence of the internet as a tool of socialization and information gathering. The online test is more convenient to use than its paper based counterpart since the scores for the responses and the resulting analysis are produced automatically. Users can therefore take as many of them as possible without worrying about wasting paper or having to purchase more magazines.

Professional behaviorists also use them. They often combine them with compatibility evaluation instruments to determine the strength of a relationship. In doing so they are able to provide evidence backed advise to their clients.

Love is quite unpredictable and uncontrollable. What can be controlled is the way people behave and the decisions they make when they are in the throes of love. Tests that measure the strength of a relationship and the connection between two people help to provide them with a rational evaluation, which in turn helps them to make better decisions.
