There are moments when you feel stressed, sad, in grief or under intense conflict yet do not understand what is going on or what steps you should take. It is said that most of the people who require professional help are not seeking it. This begs the question, how do I know that it is time to see a psychologist Billings, MT?

Everything you are feeling is intense- it is normal to feel angry or sad. When this happens, do you always think of the worst that could happen? Is your anxiety super-sized and debilitating? These are the indications that you require professional assistance.

Unforgettable traumatic experience- losing your job, witnessing death or going through breakup are very traumatizing incidences. However, this feeling should fade away with time. You should begin to feel concerned when it begins to affect your work, social interactions and normal activities. In some cases, the response is intense engagement. You will need the support of a therapist to regain your normal life and address issues soberly.

Unexplained headache, stomach distress and deteriorating immune system- your physical condition points at your inner self. Unexplained stomach upsets, unending headache and lack of sexual drive point at an underlying issue. Other signs to watch-out for include neck pains and muscle twinges. After a thorough examination by the doctor, you will identify the root cause.

Deteriorating performance- negative feedback from your boss or colleagues may result from psychological or emotional issues. You will feel disconnected and loose attention and concentration. This will cause your quality of work to slip. Professional assistance is required at the earliest opportunity.

Dead passion- everyone has areas of interest that define him or her. You could be an artist, a social person, party enthusiast or sports person. When these things suddenly loose meaning, it is time to seek assistance. In the worst case scenario, the thought of engaging in them brings sadness. Take the initiative of seeking therapeutic assistance.

Strained relationship- the first thing to suffer in the relationship is communication. The joy that you felt in the presence of your spouse is no longer there. The silence and withdrawal that results will affect the entire family and your spouse in particular. This calls for urgent psychological help from a professional.

Your friends begin to verbalize their concern- there are patterns that are noticeable by friends but may escape your attention. The perspective of the people around you should be regarded with a lot of weight. You are likely to hear such comments as, Are you OK? Are you talking to someone about it? I am concerned about you, etc. Take the initiative and see a specialist.

Turning to substances- most people under stress or depression try to drown the feeling through over indulgence. They may turn to drugs and other substances or may just over eat and over drink. This arises out of the desire to take care of your feeling. Experts recommend that you should see a doctor before things get out of hand.
