According to ancestors of the world, it is healthy for one to be thankful for others in order to have a better life. They say that positive energy begets positive energy which is why if one is always positive about his life, he will be much happier with himself. Of course the best way to gain a lot of positive energy would be in finding happiness through gratitude because the more one is thankful, the happier he is.



Now in psychology, many studies have proven that those who were more grateful about what they have actually had higher levels of happy hormones. They were more enthusiastic, optimistic, and were just happier in general. As compared to those who were not grateful for what they had, these people were actually more pessimistic and had a higher tendency of going into depression or into anxiety attacks.



Now in order to become thankful for everything, one has to first stop taking even the most simple things for granted in his life. Whether this may be food, money, loved ones, or family, one should always count his blessings. So in order to stop this, one has to think about how lucky he actually is for the good things that are around him and helping him cope with his life.



An exercise that a lot of people would do in order to practice being grateful would be to imagine losing something very important to him like his house or his money. After that, he can also imagine losing something that is essential for his survival like probably his legs or his eyes. From there, he will actually feel and realize just how lucky he is to still have all of those things with him.



Of course aside from that, there would be the all famous gratitude journal. If one would write all of the things that he is thankful for, then he will be able to remember them more often and can actually reflect a lot more. By doing this, he will actually feel a bit more optimistic about his life and will enjoy it more.



Now as he is tuning his mind to become more positive, he also has to make sure that the negative thoughts go out. One thing that he absolutely must do is stop with all his complaining and his gossiping about people. Of course this way, his concentration will not be on the negative aspects of life but the positive ones.



Now the last thing that one should do would be to live simply. The secret to finding true happiness would be to be contented. The reason why most people are unhappy with their lives is because they keep on wanting something and when they get it, they want something else. If one would break that cycle and just want something simple, then he will be happier.



So for those who are in the pursuit of happiness, this is one of the ways there. Of course being grateful is one of the ingredients. This is a tried tested and trusted method.
