A headache can be a mild annoyance. However, a migraine is a throbbing pain to one or both sides of the head. With an aura, the individual will visualize flashing or bright lights. Often there is nausea and vomiting. Fortunately there is an Ellenville NY Chiropractor available to provide a way to alleviate the intense pain.

Fewer men have these than women. The first one usually appears before the thirtieth birthday. Although women are stricken more frequently, men also seek pain relief from a chiropractor. In addition to people being affected, the economy is impacted. This because the victim is unable to go to work. According to research, they cause earnings of billions of dollars in pay to be lost annually.

One highly respected clinic associates a major nerve, the trigeminal, with migraines. The human neck has seven cervical vertebrae that can be misaligned. The chiropractic term for this is subluxation. It is believed that this may either cause or contribute to the pain of these disabling headaches.

A subluxation, which is a misalignment of the spinal vertebrae, may press against nerve roots and interfere with functioning of the nervous system. One middle-aged woman suffered from these headaches for over forty years. Her pain was alleviated over a three month period of chiropractic adjustments to correct the subluxation.

A first office appointment is spent talking about the headaches, how long they last and how frequently they occur. A medical history and a physical examination of the spine is done. Often an x-ray is needed. Following this thorough evaluation a plan can be made for reducing the pain.

With each of the scheduled appointments, the subluxation was gradually eased back into the correct position. The pressure was lifted. Massages relaxed the tense muscles in his neck and shoulders. A specially devised exercise regimen was suggested. It helped to keep the muscles relaxed between appointments.
